Full title and description

GOST 10692-2015 — "Steel and cast iron pipes and fittings. Acceptance, marking, packing, transportation and storage" (Russian: "Трубы стальные, чугунные и соединительные детали к ним. Приемка, маркировка, упаковка, транспортирование и хранение"). The standard establishes general requirements for acceptance inspection, product marking, packing, transport and storage of steel and cast-iron pipes and fittings.

Abstract

This interstate (EASC) standard replaces GOST 10692-80 and updates requirements for documentation of acceptance, modern marking methods (including dot-matrix, bar-coding and stamped/rolled marks), protective coatings, packing types, transport securing and storage conditions for steel and cast-iron pipes and associated fittings. It refers users to product-specific normative documents for additional requirements.

General information

  • Status: Active / in force.
  • Publication date: Registered June 18, 2015; published/issued in 2015–2016 series; effective (introduced) from August 1, 2016.
  • Publisher: Adopted by the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification (EASC) and introduced in the Russian Federation by the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart).
  • ICS / categories: 23.040.10 (Hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components; pipework).
  • Edition / version: GOST 10692-2015 (current edition replacing GOST 10692-80).
  • Number of pages: 18 pages (typical PDF/electronic edition).

Scope

The standard sets out general requirements applicable to acceptance (including party definition and required documentation), marking (permanent and temporary marks, modern marking technologies), packaging types and packing instructions, transport methods and securing, protection against corrosion during transport and storage, and storage conditions for steel and cast-iron pipes and their fittings. It is intended to be used together with product-specific technical specifications and other referenced standards.

Key topics and requirements

  • Acceptance procedures: definition of batches/parties, required inspection documents and references to acceptance-document rules (see GOST 31458-2015 for acceptance documentation requirements).
  • Marking: required content of marks, permitted marking technologies (stamped, rolled, dot-matrix, bar codes, labels) and marking locations.
  • Packing and packing materials: recommended pack types (coils, bundles, containers), internal/outer packing materials and combinations for domestic and export shipments.
  • Protective coatings: distinction between temporary (transport) and permanent protective coatings and requirements for their application and preservation.
  • Transportation and securing: requirements for cargo fastening, transport-package integrity, special instructions for long-distance and export transport, and handling rules to avoid damage.
  • Storage: permitted storage environments, stacking limits, protection against aggressive environments and recommendations for long-term storage.

Typical use and users

Primary users are pipe and fittings manufacturers, quality assurance and inspection personnel, logistics and packaging engineers, warehouse managers, procurement specialists and regulatory bodies within the CIS / EASC region. Designers, construction contractors and import/export compliance teams also use this standard to ensure consistent handling, marking and documentation of pipe products.

Related standards

Normative references and related documents include (non-exhaustive): GOST 31458-2015 (documents on acceptance inspection; corresponds to ISO 10474:2013), GOST 9.008 (corrosion protection terminology), GOST 15150 (climatic categories), GOST 14192 (cargo marking), GOST 17527 (packaging terms), GOST 23170 (packing for engineering products) and others cited in the standard. FAQ

Q: What is this standard?

A: An interstate standard (GOST 10692-2015) that sets general rules for acceptance, marking, packing, transportation and storage of steel and cast-iron pipes and fittings; it replaces GOST 10692-80.

Q: What does it cover?

A: General acceptance procedures and documentation, marking methods and content, packing materials and methods (including export packing), corrosion-protection measures for transport/storage, transport securing and storage conditions. Product-specific requirements remain in separate technical specifications.

Q: Who typically uses it?

A: Manufacturers, QA/QC inspectors, packers and shippers, warehouse and logistics personnel, procurement and compliance teams, and technical staff involved in pipeline and piping system projects within EASC/CIS member states.

Q: Is it current or superseded?

A: Current (in force). GOST 10692-2015 was adopted in 2015 and introduced for use in the Russian Federation from August 1, 2016; it replaced the earlier GOST 10692-80. Check national registries for later amendments.

Q: Is it part of a series?

A: It is part of the family of standards for pipe products and complementary packaging/transportation standards; it cross-references product-specific standards (for example GOST 31458-2015 for acceptance documentation) and general packaging/transport standards.

Q: What are the key keywords?

A: steel pipes, cast iron, fittings, acceptance, marking, packaging, transportation, storage, protective coating, bar code, GOST, EASC.
